Sony broadens its memory card line with Class 10 SDHC cards

Sony Electronics will be enhancing its lineup of recordable media with the addition of SDHC Class 10 memory cards to increase transfer speeds. These new SDHC Class 10 cards have a 22-megabytes-per-second transfer rate:  the fastest SDHC cards available from Sony.

Compatible with all SDHC devices, SDHC Class 10 cards from Sony are recommended for use with features such as continuous shooting of stills, 3D capture and HD video. As an added bonus, users can shoot with ease knowing their photos and videos are protected thanks to downloadable file recovery software. The software is available with all Sony memory card products including the newly launched SDHC Class 10 cards.  Users are able to recover their photos and videos that may have been accidentally damaged or deleted.

“Using features like burst shooting with DSLR cameras or shooting HD video requires quick transfer speeds and flawless data capture,” said Viviano Cantu, director of the consumer media business at Sony Electronics. “Consumers are taking advantage of the advanced features on all of their devices and using Class 10 SDHC memory cards will ensure that they can capture their memories as fast as they happen.”

Using a 32GB capacity SDHC Class 10 card, a DSLR camera user can take up to 4,200 images when set to the highest resolution.  Likewise, an HD camcorder user can record approximately 12 hours of HD video in 5mbps setting. Results may vary depending on hardware and settings, but these cards offer the reliability, speed and capacity that many consumers and professionals expect from Sony. Users may also playback movies and photos on a compatible large screen TV or Blu-ray Disc™ player via USB if they purchase the optional MRW-F3 memory card reader – eliminating the need for connecting cables.

Like other Sony memory Cards, the new SDHC Class 10 cards offer a free download of x-Pict Story™ photo sharing software. Sold in capacities ranging from 8GB to 32GB, the SDHC CL10 series starts at $49.99. For more information on these valued added benefits please visit our website at www.sony.net/memorycard. Sony SDHC Class 10 memory cards will be available at major electronics retailers and www.SonyStyle.com in early 2011.
