Samsung launches MPower series of CDMA handsets
Samsung Telecom Division has strengthened its CDMA phone offering in the open market with the launch of its new, advanced and stylish MPower series of CDMA phones. The Company is launching the MPower series in the market through its own distributors – SSK in Western Region and Bright point for the rest of India.
The Mpower series of CDMA phones have the capability to inter operate on Reliance Mobile, Tata Indicom and Virgin Mobile. The MPower phones adapt to the network settings of the respective service provider on change of the SIM card. “The MPower series are unique in that they allow the users to seamlessly shift between any of the three CDMA operators. By making the phones available in the open market, we are making our phones available to a wider base of CDMA consumers “, states Mr. Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Telecom Division.
The MPower series of Samsung phones, MPower 569 and MPower 309, support high speed wireless data of up to 153kbps which provide fast internet browsing experience on the Phone. The phones also perform the function of data cards on connection to the Laptops through Bluetooth or data cable eliminating the need for purchase of separate data cards by the consumers.
The M569 is a multimedia enabled phone with 2Megapixel camera, FM Recording on Micro SD Card, expandable memory upto 4GB, Blue tooth with Stereo Headset function, Equalizer and Surround Sound, video recording and MMS support, 2.1” Colour LCD screen and document viewer. M569 is priced at Rs 9900/-. The MPower 309 comes with 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth enabled with Stereo headset function, MicroSD card support upto 4GB, video recording and MMS support and 1.9” TFT screen. MPower 309 is priced at Rs. 6300/-. Both M569 and M309 phones have the Mobile tracker feature to ensure that the phones can be traced in case of theft.
Samsung made its first foray into the Open market with its CDMA phones in November 2007 with Samsung MAX. It launched its second product, Samsung 2ON in February 2008 .Both the products have been well received in the market .Samsung CDMA phones are available in all the top cities and the Company plans to extend its range and distribution across more cities in the coming year. With the launch of the MPower series, Samsung has a series of CDMA handsets in the open market priced in the range between Rs. 6300 and Rs. 14999.
