So what do you think is driving the sales of DVDs? HD DVD and Blu-Ray wars aside, in Britain, it’s damp weather!

Wet weather helps DVD sales rise by 38% in the UK in June compared with the same month last year, according to the British Video Association (BVA).

Back in 1997, David Shenk wrote a book called Data Smog in which he argues about the Internet and its future. He looks back at the book and wonders whether he was indeed right back then…

The book had not been conceived as a direct response to the Internet, but there was no point swimming against the zeitgeist.

And amid all the various news of which country is doing better in what field, it has come to pass that India is actually the fastest growing Internet market. An Economic Times story says:

India is the fastest growing internet market in the world with over 23 million active internet users, holding out prospect of a larger growth in the number of netizens.

A UK-based genealogy website gained massive ink yesterday as it offered its users access to a complete database of convicts shipped to Australia from 1788 to 1868.

An Italian writer decided to put his mobile phone to good use during his daily commute to and from work — by writing a book.
