Panasonic goes green with Eco Ideas
Panasonic Corporation, the worldwide leader in technology and innovation demonstrated a comprehensive cutting-edge IT and electronics trade show being held from October 5 to 9, 2010 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, east of Tokyo. The brand demonstrated its environmental vision for the home and the wider community by showcasing its latest eco friendly offerings Panasonic Home Energy Management Systems, Networkable Eco Navi Home Appliances and the 3D Plasma and Camcorder. Various solutions displayed will help in realizing a green lifestyle which is safe, comfortable and enjoyable. As part of Panasonic’s vision of becoming The Number One Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry, the company under Eco Ideas programme not only develops more energy-efficient, state-of-the-art products but also encourages customers to live eco-conscious lifestyles with an aim to reduce CO2 emissions in households and manufacturing units.
The Panasonic ‘eco ideas’ Forum 2010 is a Platform for us to learn from and communicate together with the aim of realizing a sustainable society together under the concept of “eR = ‘eco ideas’ Relations.
At Panasonic, designers and engineers constantly endeavor to ensure that each evolution of product is better than its previous version by following stringent process to ensure environmental compatibility by deploying technology to design products that are more energy efficient, water efficient and long lasting.
The programme includes following initiatives:
• Eco Ideas for Life-styles – Promoting lifestyles that result in virtually zero CO2 emissions around the world. The initiative is to enable people to realize a more eco-conscious lifestyle from small ideas contributed by each one.
• Eco Ideas for Business-styles – Besides making eco-conscious products and delivering them to customers, the company aims to realize four “Zeros” including zero environmental impacts by reducing wastage of energy and resources during manufacturing process.

The company has also rolled out Eco Awareness Programme across 100 schools in 7 metros which include student sensitization and engagement modules on global warming; it’s impact on flora and fauna and eco ideas to save energy.
Talking on Eco Ideas, Mr. Daizo Ito, President Panasonic India said, “Panasonic has been undertaking steady steps to reduce its carbon imprint and increase awareness about the need to respond to the threat of global warming with decisive action. Taking the green initiative forward, we plan to focus on making available energy-efficient devices such as rechargeable batteries and heat-pump air conditioners that use low-loss power control technologies.”

Panasonic had earlier announced its social green initiative in India, ‘Eco Caravan’. The initiative, which spanned across the major metros, was aimed at sensitizing community on the impact of routine products usage on the environment.
