Epson introduces two new WorkForce scanner

Epson today announced its entry into the sheetfed scanner market with the introduction of the Epson WorkForce(TM) Pro GT-S50 and WorkForce Pro GT-S80, the latest additions to the WorkForce scanner line. With the ability to scan everything from business cards to rigid ID cards to documents up to 8.5″ x 36″ at blazing fast speeds, these scanners offer a convenient and affordable solution for managing document scanning in office, workgroup and departmental environments.

Featuring a dual color CCD for fast two-sided duplex scanning, automatic paper size detection, mercury free ReadyScan(TM) LED technology for fast scans with no warm-up time, and versatile job customization features for increasing office productivity while maintaining ease of use, the WorkForce Pro GT-S50 and WorkForce Pro GT-S80 demonstrate Epson’s commitment to the scanning industry.

The WorkForce Pro GT-S80 is a versatile, workgroup or departmental sheetfed scanner designed to increase productivity while scanning important documents. Offering scan speeds of 40 ppm (pages per minute) and 80 ipm(1) (images per minute), a 75-page feeder and a high duty cycle of 1,800 sheets per day, this scanner provides a quick and efficient solution for any workgroup or department. The WorkForce Pro GT-S50 offers scan speeds of 25 ppm and 50 ipm, along with 75-page feeder and a duty cycle of up to 1,200 sheets per day, making it an ideal scanner to tackle any task in a busy office environment.

With the ability to easily scan both sides of a sheet in just one pass — in color, grayscale or bi-tonal, these scanners have made it easier than ever to electronically capture important documents, comply with government mandates, improve business processes and customer service. Both scanners provide a host of innovative functions including automatic de-skewing and automatic background color removal. In addition, the WorkForce Pro GT-S80 includes ultrasonic double-feed detection that will greatly improve throughput and productivity. Consumables for the WorkForce Pro Scanner Line

In order to better maintain the WorkForce Pro GT-S50 and WorkForce Pro GT- S80, Epson offers a roller assembly kit for replacing the feed rollers, which maintains scanner reliability and performance, as well as carrier sheets to prevent damage when scanning fragile documents. The roller assembly kit and carrier sheets are available for $49.99 and $29.99 (estimated street prices), respectively.

Availability and Support

The Epson WorkForce Pro GT-S50 and WorkForce Pro GT-S80 will be available in December for $499.99 and $899.99 (estimated street price), respectively, through Epson authorized dealers, office super stores, mail order, online resellers, distribution, and on the Epson Store Web site ( The scanners feature a one-year limited warranty, along with optional extended warranties, overnight exchange programs, and depot repair.
