Parallels Inc. launches its flagship products in India
Parallels Inc, a Seattle headquartered , a worldwide leader in virtualization and automation software that optimizes Operating System (OS) in Servers and Personal Computers (PC) has launched its flagship products in India in a big way .
“Seeing the initial good response from major companies including Tata’s and Reliance Communications, We plan to open a full fledged office soon in India to provide better services for our products. We have also appointed Mumbai based Teqdis as our national distributor for our products’ said Serguei Beloussov, CEO and chairman of Parallels currently in India.
‘Virtualization is a proven software technology that is rapidly transforming the IT landscape and fundamentally changing the way that peoplecompute. Today’s powerful x86 computer hardware was originally designed to run only a single operating system and a single application, but virtualization breaks that bond, making it possible to run multiple operating systems and multiple applicationson the same computer at the same time, increasing the utilization and flexibility ofhardware.” Mr Beloussov added.
“Parallels also offers VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure software), which makes server-hosted virtual machines accessible to users through the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol).
VDI is presently extensively being used by call-center users, letting them work in other locations or even at home without burdening IT support and expensive transporting the staff’ he added
“PC virtualization also helps in reducing a fully functional corporate desktop into a single file that can be carried on a USB disk and run on any PC is exciting to users. But virtualization’s real benefit lies in its potential to reduce management and support burdens, improve security and reliability, and lower total cost of ownership.’ Said Mr Ravi Pradhan, Teqdis.
“The personal computer revolution is far from over, but enterprises are rightfully questioning the high maintenance costs, endless replacement cycles and security vulnerabilities that plague the standard networked PC. Enterprise Desktop Virtualization, A breakthrough in thin computing now promises to end the PC monopoly on the desktop while giving users improved access to their favorite productivity applications.” Said Pradhan
“Companies are thinking that the equipment that has to be maintained at the desktop can be very simple—a thin client, or it can be a PC that just runs remote desktop access—so they’ll save on desktop hardware costs, and maintenance costs, plus they can bring the same kind of availability and functionality to a virtual PC as they did to the [virtual] server,” says Pardhan.
