Motorola (NYSE: MOT) today announced the upcoming availability of Motorola CHARM™.

Motorola (NYSE: MOT) today announced the upcoming availability of Motorola CHARM™, a touch screen smartphone that packs a social networking punch with Android™ 2.1, MOTOBLURTM enhancements, a compact design and a BACKTRACK™ feature that makes screen navigation even more intuitive.

Motorola CHARM is expected to be available this summer exclusively in the U.S. for customers of T-Mobile USA, Inc.

“Motorola strives to provide an increased customizable user experience, which is enabled by our latest enhancements to MOTOBLUR and featured on the new Motorola CHARM,” said Jean Pierre Le Cannellier, vice president, Americas Marketing, Motorola Mobile Devices. “Combine that with a compact design, easy handling and all the features you would expect from a smartphone, and we believe that CHARM with MOTOBLUR adds the social ability and workability consumers are looking for.”

Motorola CHARM provides consumers all the features of a smartphone with the intuitive navigation of a 2.8 inch touch screen – all in a compact, pocketable design that makes messaging a snap using the combination of a full QWERTY keyboard and touch screen. The BACKTRACK navigation pad, located on the back of the smartphone directly behind the home screen, is similar to a laptop touch panel and enables an unobstructed view of the Web, texts, e-mails and news feeds. Plus, with Android 2.1 and enhanced MOTOBLUR features, CHARM offers new customization and filtering options.

“Being social with friends and family comes naturally for T-Mobile customers, and we think mobilizing their social experiences should be effortless,” said Saj Sahay, director of product management, T-Mobile USA. “With the new Motorola CHARM and enhancements to the Android and MOTOBLUR experience, we’re bringing more social skills to our broad portfolio of Android-powered smartphones.”

Motorola CHARM will be the first device in the U.S. to feature an enhanced version of MOTOBLUR built on Android 2.1, which syncs contacts, posts, messages, photos and much more in easy to manage streams — from sources such as Facebook®, MySpace, Twitter™, Gmail™, work and personal e-mail. MOTOBLUR now allows for even greater customization, providing users more options to follow who and what really matters.

MOTOBLUR filters can be selected from a single social networking account, contacts, group or messaging account so that users can select only the information they want to stream live to the Happenings and Messages widgets. Users can move and resize pre-loaded home screen widgets to personalize up to seven home screen panels for an even more custom experience. Lastly, consumers can manage their phone’s battery consumption by selecting different power modes to conserve battery.

Contacts in MOTOBLUR are automatically synced to the phone from personal and work e-mail and social network accounts. MOTOBLUR will continue to provide convenience and peace of mind, as lost devices can be located from a secure personal information portal and even remotely erased if necessary. In addition, one user name and password brings back contacts, messages and connectivity to previously configured networks and e-mail providers.

Last, but not least, Moto Phone Portal enables you to access and manage your phone’s data from any browser through a USB or Wi-Fi connection. Edit content and view important phone information while at home or on-the-go. Leave pictures on a friend’s PC, share a video at the local Internet café or share a presentation during an important business meeting.

Additional features on Motorola CHARM include:

* Adobe® Flash® enabled Web browsing experience to view most of today’s content-rich sites
* Full suite of Google™ services including: Google Search™, Google Maps™, Gmail™ and access to thousands of apps on Android Market™
* Pinch to zoom functionality and two-finger swipe to easily surf the Web and sort through photos

* Capture sharp photos with a 3MP camera and KODAK PERFECT TOUCH technology for better, brighter pictures
* One-touch social media uploads to Facebook®, MySpace, PicasaTM and PhotoBucket®
* CrystalTalkTM PLUS for enhanced audio and call quality with a second microphone for increased voice quality while filtering out background noise
* Corporate email pushed immediately to the device for instant inbox updates

Availability

Verizon Wireless, the company with the nation’s largest and most reliable wireless 3G network, and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), a pioneer in the mobile industry, today unveiled DROID X by Motorola. DROID X does more with ultra high-speed Web browsing; a fast 1GHz processor; 3G Mobile HotSpot capabilities; loads of memory; intuitive social messaging; Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 ready; and access to Android Market™, which has more than 65,000 applications, along with a host of unique Verizon Wireless applications such as NFL Mobile, Skype mobile™, V CAST Video, EA Need for Speed Shift™ and more.

“Nine months ago, we made a commitment to our customers to bring the openness of Android to the Verizon Wireless network,” said John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. “Since then, we have introduced the top-selling Android phone in the marketplace today – the DROID by Motorola. DROID X takes that commitment to another level with exclusive content, faster processing speeds, and, of course, the reliability of our network.”

Sanjay Jha, co-chief executive officer of Motorola and chief executive officer of Motorola Mobile Devices and Home business added, “Motorola designed DROID X to push the extreme limits of Android innovation, and enable you to do even more with your mobile device. We are breaking down barriers so that you can experience the Web the way it was meant to be and create, share and view content like never before, either in your hand or in your home. Enterprise users will also find DROID X appealing with features including push e-mail and live widgets for e-mail and calendar updates.”

DROID X gives customers a 4.3-inch high-resolution screen for viewing the latest movies and video from BLOCKBUSTER On Demand® presented by V CAST Video, the newest addition to the Verizon Wireless V CAST application, which also includes access to favorite TV shows. The DROID X video capabilities let customers capture spontaneous fun, combining a dual-flash, 8-megapixel camera, HD camcorder, as well as DLNA and HDMI connectivity to download, stream and share personal HD content.

DROID X customers will also receive Android 2.2 and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 with an over-the-air update in the latter half of the summer. With the update, the Flash Player will allow mobile users to experience hundreds of sites with rich applications and content inside the browser, including games, animations, rich Internet applications (RIAs), data presentations and visualizations, ecommerce, music, video, audio and more.

“It has been an exciting time for Android momentum and global consumer adoption since the announcement of DROID by Motorola nine months ago,” said Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering for Google. “There are 160,000 new Android-powered devices activated daily and Android Market has grown to over 65,000 applications. Plus later this summer, Verizon Wireless and Motorola will update all the DROID by Motorola phones to the latest 2.2 software. For customers, this means great new features and improved browser performance. For developers, this will provide new tools such as cloud-to-device messaging and enhanced enterprise functionality.”

“We are excited about full Flash support coming to the DROID X and other devices from Motorola,” said Shantanu Narayen, president and chief executive officer of Adobe. “Flash Player 10.1, which is one of Adobe’s most anticipated releases ever, has been redesigned from the ground up to deliver the kind of highly engaging experiences that consumers now expect from their mobile devices.”

Once updated to Android 2.2, business customers will find DROID X offers the features that turn the device into a workhorse with support for both Exchange and Gmail™ for business. Corporate users can enjoy push delivery of e-mail; live widgets that stream messages to the home screen; filter widgets to differentiate work and home e-mail; corporate directory and Global look-up along with a unified calendar for Enterprise and sync with Google Calendar™. Security protocols allow remote password control and wipe via Exchange server.

Pricing and Availability

DROID X by Motorola will be available at www.verizonwireless.com and in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores beginning July 15 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers will receive the mail-in rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted. In addition to subscribing to a Nationwide Talk plan or a Nationwide Talk & Text plan, customers will also need to subscribe to an Email and Web for Smartphone plan. Nationwide Talk plans begin at $39.99 monthly access. Email and Web for Smartphone plans start at $29.99 for unlimited monthly access.

The Mobile Devices and Home business of Mototrola, Inc (NYSE: MOT) introduced today a new family of on-demand servers designed to deliver multimedia content and services across television, personal computer (PC) and mobile devices.

The Mobile Devices and Home business of Mototrola, Inc (NYSE: MOT) introduced today a new family of on-demand servers designed to deliver multimedia content and services across television, personal computer (PC) and mobile devices – the three screens core to service providers’ success in creating new revenue-generating applications and services in the “Internet Era of TV.” The introduction of the Motorola M3 Media Server family demonstrates Motorola’s focus on the delivery of solutions that connect people to personalized content by creating compelling consumer experiences.

The fault-resilient, carrier-class Motorola M3 Media Server family will be offered as part of the Motorola Media Delivery System, which also includes the Motorola CPS-1000 Content Propagation System for cable and the BitBand Maestro content delivery network (CDN) management system for over-the-top (OTT) Internet video and IPTV environments. The new server family is scheduled to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2010.

“Video service providers are looking for new ways to cost-effectively deliver high-value media to their subscribers across all three screens without overwhelming their networks’ limited bandwidth capabilities or sacrificing the quality of the end-user experience,” said Bob Wilson, vice president, Networked Video Solutions Group, Motorola Mobile Devices and Home. “To the benefit of our customers, Motorola offers a broad, flexible range of solid-state media servers that provide a combination of scalability, efficiency, flexibility and reliability on industry-standard hardware. The new Motorola M3 Media Server gives service providers a highly configurable solution that can support the delivery of content across TV, Internet and mobile video platforms from a single platform.”

The Motorola M3 Media Server utilizes sophisticated software designed to optimize the performance and reliability of commodity off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware, enabling revenue-generating services such as video on demand (VOD), Internet video, time-shifted TV, network DVR and on-demand advertising. It can be deployed in either clusters of high-performance rack mount servers or in high-availability, chassis-based blade server platforms. This flexibility allows Motorola to support virtually any networking topology or streaming requirement, including low-density edge streaming and large, centralized deployments.

The Motorola M3 Media Server family initially comprises four primary platforms and represents the integration of best-in-class technology from Motorola’s acquisitions of Broadbus Technologies and BitBand Techonologies:

· M3-S100 – a high-performance solid-state edge server that supports 2,500 SD streams in a 1RU enclosure

· M3-S200 – a library server and video streamer that stores up to 12TB of media content per 2RU, while simultaneously enabling live ingest and streaming

· M3-C600 & C1000 Media Centers – massively scalable, modular systems for three-screen media delivery, supporting up to 40,000 SD streams, up to 12 TB of Flash storage from a 10RU chassis, and the ability to run streaming, management, distribution and certified third-party applications within a single platform

The Motorola M3 Media Server family leverages the media management capabilities of the Motorola CPS-1000 and BitBand Maestro media distribution applications to enable a flexible, media-optimized CDN. Through the intelligent caching of media content and placement of streams to media servers, the Motorola Media Delivery System optimizes network, streaming and storage resources while reliably delivering content across three screens.

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), the world leader in Bluetooth headsets, today announced H17txt with MotoSpeak™, a Bluetooth® headset designed to keep you connected and responsible – on and off the road.

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), the world leader in Bluetooth headsets, today announced H17txt with MotoSpeak™, a Bluetooth® headset designed to keep you connected and responsible – on and off the road. The new headset was created to optimize the text-to-speech technology and experience, which, when paired with an application, reads text messages (SMS) into the headset, in real time. Plus, you have the added ability to customize an automated response and automatically enable text-to-speech when the headset is powered on. H17txt with MotoSpeak™ will be available starting April 1 through Verizon Wireless.

“Motorola continues to promote responsible driving, by helping users keep their hands on the wheels and eyes on the road, no matter what comes in on their mobile phone,” said Wayne White, corporate vice president, Companion Products, Motorola Mobile Devices. “H17txt with MotoSpeak™ reflects an enhancement in Bluetooth® connectivity where consumers are able to stay connected in a more responsible way.”

Customers can download the text-to-speech application to their smartphone from multiple application stores, including Android Market™, by simply searching for “MotoSpeak.” Users can enable the application on their cell phone and, when paired with H17txt with MotoSpeak™, automatically hear their text messages through their headset. In addition to quickly and clearly converting text-to-speech, additional features include:

Easy on: Text messages will automatically be played over your H17txt with MotoSpeak™ every time your headset is activated.

Incoming text message sender ID: Always be in the know about who in your phonebook is trying to text you without having to take your hands off the wheel with sender ID announcements.

Auto-response message: Determine if you want to send an automated text message to callers informing them that you are driving and will call back when available or pick a more personalized message to send.

Translates 150 text acronyms: Acronyms such as lol, btw and l8r are translated when the text message is read aloud, so you will never miss the meaning of a message.

When paired with any Bluetooth-compatible phone, such as DROID by Motorola, H17txt with MotoSpeak™ also allows for turn-by-turn directions to be heard only by the driver, not everyone else in the car. Plus, voice prompts audibly update you on battery level, mute status, how to connect for the first time and more. With this enhanced headset, you can even listen to streaming media, music, videos and games – all hands-free.

H17txt with MotoSpeak™ availability:

The Motorola H17txt with MotoSpeak™ Bluetooth® headset will be available in the U.S. beginning April 1 at Verizon Wireless Communications stores and online. For more information regarding H17txt with MotoSpeak™, please click here.

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and Sprint (NYSE: S) today broke new ground with the announcement of Motorola i1, the world’s first push-to-talk Android™-powered smartphone.

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and Sprint (NYSE: S) today broke new ground with the announcement of Motorola i1, the world’s first push-to-talk Android™-powered smartphone. Sleek and attractive, yet durable, Motorola i1 is the first iDEN device to carry the features of a modern smartphone including a 3.1-inch touch screen, Wi-Fi®, optimized browsing experience with the latest Opera Mini 5 browser, access to thousands of apps and a push-to-talk experience that includes exciting new features. Sprint will begin offering Motorola i1 this summer.

With more than 17 years of expertise, Sprint is the industry leader in push-to-talk, serving the world’s largest push-to-talk community with millions of Nextel Direct Connect subscribers on the fastest national push-to-talk network. Nextel Direct Connect® has set the industry standard for push-to-talk worldwide. More U.S. workers communicate in less than a second with Nextel Direct Connect than with any other push-to-talk service.

“Motorola remains focused on delivering differentiated Android experiences within our product portfolio,” said Mark Shockley, senior vice president, Motorola Mobile Devices. “With the Motorola i1, we’re excited to offer iDEN users the opportunity to enjoy a feature-rich smartphone with push-to-talk, whether it’s for work or play.”

“As the first Nextel Direct Connect Android smartphone, Motorola i1 with Wi-Fi offers a powerful tool for our customers with access to thousands of applications in the Android Market™,” said Fared Adib, vice president – Product Development, Sprint. “With rugged durability, a full touchscreen and 5 megapixel camera, Motorola i1 gives push-to-talk customers a compelling smartphone that can withstand some of the harshest environments.”

Motorola i1 enhances the push-to-talk experience with the ability to view who is calling regardless of what application you are in, whether you are managing your emails, checking your calendar, composing messages or viewing media.

Must-have Features and Nextel Direct Connect

With solid body construction that meets military specifications for protection against dust, shock, vibration and blowing rain1, Motorola i1 is designed for those who work and play hard. It automatically syncs and integrates office and personal information such as emails, calendar appointments and contacts. Key features include:

* Popular business tools such as Microsoft Document Viewer and corporate sync ensure Word or PowerPoint files can be accessed on the go.
* Message entry is a breeze with both Android standard virtual keyboard and Swype™ virtual keyboards being offered.
* A 5 megapixel camera with flash, geo-tagging and panoramic capabilities provides crisp photos and clearly displays them on the vibrant 3.1-inch HVGA screen. Video can also be recorded and stored on a provided microSD for sharing or future viewing straight from the device.
* The latest Opera Mini 5 browser enables quick browsing over the Nextel National Network and Wi-Fi. The Android browser allows you to see web pages and Flash 8-enabled sites in full view using Wi-Fi.
* Motorola i1 can be continuously customized with thousands of applications from Android Market™.

Application development information for Motorola i1 is available on the Sprint Application Developer web site at www.sprint.com/developer. Sprint offers developers a free sandbox with iDEN capabilities to test their apps. Sprint is a charter member of the Open Handset Alliance™ and the Sprint Application Developer Program has been providing tools for third-party developers since Sprint first launched the Wireless Web on its phones in 2001.

In addition, Motorola provides developers with broad market reach through MOTODEV, the company’s global program for developers and independent software vendors (ISVs). MOTODEV offers a streamlined path into multiple distribution channels including Android Market™ and operator channels. Developers interested in Android application development with Motorola can visit: http://developer.motorola.com.

New Relationship with Mike Rowe

In addition to introducing Android into push-to-talk devices, Motorola is also bringing a new face to its iDEN portfolio: Mike Rowe. Mike has worked as an apprentice at more than 250 of the toughest jobs in America, and his experience and reputation as a hard worker are a perfect fit for Motorola’s iDEN portfolio. The new relationship announced today will feature Mike as a spokesperson for Motorola’s rugged push-to-talk devices.

“Typically, the work I’ve done tends to take its toll on my phones and I end up breaking ‘em on the job,” said Mike. “It’ll be fun to use one that’s not afraid of a little dirt.”

Motorola is also supporting mikeroweWORKS, a public relations campaign for skilled labor that Mike launched on Labor Day of 2008.

“It’s really gratifying to see some big companies getting behind the notion that working hard is just as important as working smart,” said Mike. “I’m happy to talk about a phone that can do both.”

Availability and Pricing

Motorola i1 will be available through Sprint in North America in the summer of 2010. Customers interested in Motorola i1 can pre-register at www.sprint.com/motoi1 or www.motorola.com.

AT&T and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that the Motorola BACKFLIP ™ with MOTOBLUR™ will be available in AT&T stores nationwide and online at www.wireless.att.com beginning March 7.

MOTOBLUR offers AT&T customers a new way to connect to their favorite people, content and applications, whether it’s work or personal email, messaging or social networking. Motorola’s exclusive Android™ experience syncs contacts, posts, messages, photos and much more — from sources such as Facebook®, MySpace, Twitter®, Gmail™, Picasa, work and personal e-mail, and Last.fm — and automatically delivers them to live widgets for immediate reply, right from the home screen. And, for customers who prefer multi-tasking, AT&T’s 3G network offers the added advantage of talking and surfing the Web and accessing applications at the same time.

BACKFLIP features a unique form-factor with an original reverse flip design, spacious keyboard and BACKTRACK™ touch panel, allowing the display to be hands-free while one’s fingers work behind the screen. BACKFLIP runs on the nation’s fastest 3G network and is powered by MOTOBLUR™, Motorola’s Android-powered content delivery service created to make phones more personal and socially smart. Customers can see photos and learn more at www.att.com/backflip.

“Motorola BACKFLIP brings together the best of social networking with the nation’s fastest 3G network,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “With the ability to ride on our newest and fastest 3G network, access to more than 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots, and the ability to talk and surf at the same time, BACKFLIP boasts a better Android experience.”

MOTOBLUR™
MOTOBLUR keeps track of contacts so it’s easy to keep up. Users can flip through messages and updates on the BACKFLIP and respond in a flash, without having to log in and out of applications. MOTOBLUR helps consumers keep a pulse on what’s happening on their social and news networks. Only MOTOBLUR can sync Facebook, MySpace and Twitter with phone book and email contacts, while threading status updates and profile pics through calls, messages and address book. From the home screen, consumers can update their status to Facebook, MySpace and Twitter at once.

Finally, MOTOBLUR provides users with simplicity and peace of mind, as lost devices can be located from a secure personal information portal and GPS can be used to locate them. One user name and password brings back a user’s contacts, messages and connectivity to previously configured networks and email providers.

”Motorola is proud to bring the first Android-powered device to AT&T’s 3G network,” said Mark Shockley, senior vice president, Motorola Mobile Devices. “AT&T customers will love the social media advantages MOTOBLUR offers as well as the innovative hardware design.”

BACKFLIP is the first Motorola device to feature the new and unique BACKTRACK™ feature which gives AT&T customers the ability to navigate quickly and easily through Web sites, menus and more with a touch panel located behind the screen when the device is folded open. BACKTRACK offers a new way to scroll through the Web, texts, e-mails and news feeds without obscuring the home screen. Flip the keyboard backwards into table-top mode to listen to music, watch videos, view pictures with the digital picture frame or to turn BACKFLIP into a digital, bedside alarm clock.

BACKFLIP comes with a full HTML browser that can be viewed on the 3.1” high-res, touch screen display and makes use of 7.2 HSPA 3G technology on the nation’s fastest 3G network. Android Market™ has access to more than 20,000 apps and widgets, in order to customize the device to fit each consumer’s personal style. Customers can easily shoot photos and video with the BACKFLIP’s 5 MP camera and flash, and upload them to their favorite photo sharing or social media site.

The Motorola BACKFLIP features Wi-Fi connectivity and AT&T customers receive AT&T Wi-Fi access at U.S. hotspots included as part of their unlimited data plan. AT&T’s has the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network with more than 20,000 U.S. hotspots.

Pricing and Availability
The Motorola BACKFLIP will be available March 7 at AT&T retail locations nationwide or at www.wireless.att.com for $99.99 after $100 mail-in rebate.

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced today that its Home and Networks Mobility business has shipped 100 million digital entertainment devices.

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced today that its Home and Networks Mobility business has shipped 100 million digital entertainment devices, a significant milestone that reflects the achievements of both the company and the worldwide service provider industry. This milestone coincides with the industry’s transition from the “Digital Era” to the new ”Internet Era of Television” (TV).

Motorola’s 2009 Media Engagement Barometer highlighted this transition and clearly demonstrated a rise in consumers’ expectations for connectivity to content and devices anytime and anywhere. The study also revealed strong demand for content customization – in other words the ability to control their experience – whether on the TV, PC or mobile device.

To meet these new demands of the “Internet Era of TV,” Motorola is focusing on three critical consumer needs: content, community and control.

“Motorola is proud to celebrate its rich video heritage and will continue providing customers with advanced systems that accelerate the delivery of personalized media experiences to consumers,” said Dan Moloney, president of Motorola’s Home and Networks business. “Motorola is committed to providing industry-leading innovative solutions that enable service providers to be successful in the “Internet Era of TV.”

“With over 100 million unit shipments, Motorola’s digital entertainment devices are the most widely deployed in the world,” said Mike Paxton, principal analyst with In-Stat, a leading market research firm. “Motorola’s Home and Networks Mobility business is a leading innovator in the technology industry and it continues to position its products to define ‘what’s next in video.’”

Motorola has a history of over 50 years of bringing creative, cutting edge inventions to the video industry and has always been at the forefront of technology – from its original days in TV manufacturing to the design of the world’s first analog cable TV system and the creation of the world’s first digital HDTV technical standard.

As part of Motorola’s research and development initiatives and as part of Motorola’s focus on what’s next for video,Motorola is contributing to Georgia Tech’s Fourth Annual Convergence Innovation Competition. Through the competition, Motorola is giving students the opportunity to connect classroom and research lab work to the business world with the creation of innovative and commercially relevant applications and services for set-top boxes, among other content delivery devices.

Motorola’s Home and Networks Mobility business delivers fully integrated and customizable media solutions enabling operators to provide personalized, rich media experiences to their subscribers. As a global video leader in digital entertainment devices, digital and Internet protocol (IP) video headends and digital video processing, Motorola brings its video expertise to bear as operators – wireline, wireless, cable and telco – seek to evolve their networks for the future.
