The Tech Week That Was [Vol 1, #2]

The Tech Week That WasAnother exciting week in the tech world that saw some interesting launches and announcements and none more so than the fact that Sony had rechristened Grouper and made it Crackle. And then there was the launch of the Association for Downloadable Media that will look to develop standardization of audience measurement and advertising for downloadable media. Interesting times ahead, indeed.

Sony had a rather big week and especially Wednesday when they had a string of launches including the new TZ laptop, iPod Boombox and a DVDirect DVD writer. The BlackBerry 8820 was also launched and the battle between Windows Mobile, Apple iPhone and RIM devices seems to be hotting up.

Among other launches and announcements, it was interesting to see Google’s interest in the 700MHz spectrum should the FCC open it up. And IBMs launch of the Disaster Management Tool signals an interesting shift for the Big Blue and we also found out that Hermione is more popular than Harry!
